I for one am *very* enthusiastic that this has come to pass

I've been struggling with trying to represent geographical data
in reasonably-sized hunks of VRML converted from existing
data-stores
for several years now
and have been very dissatisfied with the results...

huge files or huge hunks of time spent hand-tweaking data...
incredible difficulties matching
road/city/political-boundaruy/etc graphics to
terrains generated from DEM => DXF => VRML (in the VRML 1
days)
and DEM => VRML (with VRML 2)
and so on ad nauseum...

I for one am very enthusiastic
about seeing geographers help us figure out how to do this stuff
*right*

anyway
good to see this beginning to pick up steam
